Impact pump is an innovative submersible pump that aids surface pumps to draw water from underground water sources. Based on the water-hammer effect, the patented technology is a double acting hydraulic ram pump that enables surface pumps to lift up to 25m with 85% efficiency. The pump construction is AISI 304 Stainless steel throughout encased within a plastic filter. The pump does not have any electrical component or sliding seals providing a design life exceeding 10years with routine maintenance.
Impact submersible unit is permanently installed below ground in a well or borehole and is provided complete with a well head and tank fittings for quick and easy installation.
The pump offers the following benefits;
- Safe to run dry as it does not have any electrical components or electronics submerged in water
- Tolerant to sand and silt, salts and other solutes.
- Long-life due to the absence of submerged high-wear components
Working Principle
Water is pumped down the well from a surface pump powered by either main, solar, or fossil fuel. For better performance, the pump should have a flow of between 1500l/hr to 3000l/hr. Extra water is drawn by the impact pump, up to 2,000l/hr which in turn lifts it to the storage tank while some amount of water recirculates into the surface pump.
